Description
A rescue boat in Margate City, New Jersey resting on the beach.
When I look at this boat, I feel like I'm back on the beach feeling the warm wet sand between my toes, the crashing of the waves and the sounds of the gulls flying by. Such a wonderful feeling.

Lisa, I love the textured feel to this photo and the long shadow of the boat. The light on the waves and the left tip of the boat are glorious. The birds captured in the shot help create that peaceful feeling; and I too can feel that sand between my toes. Great piece!

Love everything about it Lisa, would maybe brighten up a tad, that's it! Beautiful work! fl

I like the subtle mess of the color reflections on the boat. The shadows on the whit boat appear a couple shades darker than the beach sand. Very nice lighting. Makes a nice picture. Very well done.

Posting some more effects of this image with critique at hand from all. Thank you very much for your CC. As with any image, so much can be done to change the original. It all depends on how the person perceives the image in their own mind. The first added is the original with a couple of tweeks in RAW and omitting the condo on the right and cropping to get a true rule of thirds. The next I'll do in B & W as suggested Thank you all again.

Beautiful composition! My computer shows blotchy sky, it may be my lap top. Love the mix of texture you captured...the soft sand, the smooth wood and the ripples of water in the waves. l/f

This is a beautiful composition; it looks like it could be a painting! I would just suggest cropping the right side of the image to remove the object that is just ever so visible.

Sorry, I pushed enter before I was done. Though you are not on twitter, I did tweet your home page. I love twitter and have some followers that especially retweet the photographers works I share with them.

Ooops, I have to make one correction to my comments below. I was unable to tweet the few scenes that I wanted for Lisa, however I was able to pass along on FB.

Lisa, what a nice beach scene. Love the title and the peacefulness of this scene. I do like the texture, makes it look like a painting. Beautifully captured. Awesome how this scene brought great memories to you. I love the peaceful sounds of the ocean and seagulls at the beach too. Fun memories. I have 4 +1 recommendations/thoughts: (1) Crop a bit of the sky, I would say 1/2" to 1". This would also alleviate the two darker blue spots in each of the upper corners. (2) Crop maybe 1/4" from bottom (not too much) so that your keeping the "rule of thirds". I love that the Margate City boat is not centered and we can clearly see the ocean and waves crashing. Love that blue ocean and the waves. I also love how you were able to capture the four birds. By cropping a bit will bring the boat and ocean closer in. (3) I think you captured a building in this scene, at first glance it looks as if it's a part of the boat, which its not, but it is a distraction since the boat is the main object and there are no other buildings. I would delete the building altogether. (4) In my recent readings I have learned that buyers like to see 2, 3, 4 versions of the same art work. So I would recommend to have this beautiful textured photo AS WELL as the original available for sale (still making the recommended changes to the original as well). Great work. I would love to see the original. (5) I don't know how a b&w version would look, you might have to lighten it slightly, but folks still love b&w these days. That could be your third version. If it doesn't give you the same peaceful fond memories feel, don't include it, Just a thought to try it out and see. I hope my thoughts have been helpful. You're a great photographer Lisa and we have similar stories in how we got into photography just a few years ago. I have made comments on some of your other works, did a few tweets and am now following you. Keep up the great work my friend!

A very nice photo, composition is fine too, but (nitpicking) I would have tried to remove the greenish tint of the sky and gone on my knees to get the top of the boat over the ocean horizon to avoid the dark bits of visual clutter from top of the boat... I think the blotchy spot Mark refers to is perhaps just a too sharp contrast from the clouds. :-)

It's a lovely image. I would however recommend using the noise filter on a moderate or maybe even slightly higher and the go back a use an infocus filter... great colors

Nice shot, I wonder about the image area, however. There appears to be a blotchy cast on my screen, possibly a result of noise effect. As no one else mentions it, I wonder about it. But otherwise it is a nice shot and I like the comp. The sand colors are in your memory. I've seen almost any color you can think of! ; >) There are a lot of factors affecting that. I don't know what the dark object is on top of the bow of the boat. If it is a distant structure and not part of the boat, I might have adjusted the composition to not have it on the boat. It looks like it is part of the boat, but looking closer it appears it might not be? Just a suggestion to avoid the confusion in the composition.
